Car dealer website design
Most car buyers start on the big listing sites, then look up the dealer before they drive anywhere. They want to know the car is still there, the price is the price, and the dealer is someone they can trust with a lot of money. An independent dealer's website has to answer all three.

A car dealer's website needs stock that matches your listings, prices that include any compulsory fees, finance information shown the way FCA rules require, a part-exchange form, warranty and reviews. We build that for £949 setup and £59 a month (Grow) for most independent dealers, or £1,950 and £129 (Scale) for more than one site.
What buyers check on a dealer's own site
- Is the car still here? Stock that updates when it sells, ideally from the same feed as your listings.
- Is the price the price? No admin fee appearing at the end.
- Can I trust you? Reviews, how long you have traded, photos of the forecourt and the team.
- What comes with it? Warranty, preparation, MOT and service history, and what happens if something goes wrong.
- What is my car worth? A part-exchange form that asks the right questions.
Car finance and the FCA rules
If you introduce customers to a lender, that is credit broking, and the FCA says motor dealers doing it need permission, Limited or Full depending on the lenders you use and whether you take part-exchanges on cars with outstanding finance. Some dealers work as an appointed representative of an authorised firm instead.
The FCA's rules also cover how finance is advertised, including on your website. Under CONC 3.5, if a page shows a rate of interest or a cost of credit, such as a monthly payment with an interest rate, it must include a representative example, labelled as one. A representative APR is required if the promotion suggests credit for people who might find it hard to get, makes a favourable comparison, or offers an incentive to apply.
This is a summary for planning your website, not legal advice. Your lender or principal firm often has to approve finance wording, so we build finance sections with them, using their approved text.
Prices without surprises
The Competition and Markets Authority's guidance on the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 says that showing a headline price and adding mandatory charges later, known as drip pricing, is prohibited. If every buyer pays an admin or preparation fee, it belongs in the advertised price. We set up stock pages so the price shown is the price paid, before optional extras like extended warranties.
Pages a dealership website usually needs
- Used cars in stock, with search and filters
- Finance, built with your lender's approved wording
- Part exchange
- Warranty and aftercare
- Reviews, about us and how to find us
- Servicing or MOT pages if you have a workshop
Example: an independent used car dealer with one forecourt
- 10+ pages: stock, finance, part exchange, warranty, reviews, about and find us
- Stock linked to your listing or dealer management feed (scoped on a call)
- Finance section using your lender's approved wording
- Part-exchange form with registration, mileage and photos
- Google Business Profile, reviews setup and next-working-day edits
Fixed price for the site. Connecting a stock feed depends on your software and is confirmed on a call before you commit.

Questions people ask
How much does a car dealer website cost?
Ours is £949 setup and £59 a month for most independent dealers, or £1,950 and £129 a month for more than one site, including hosting and edits. Connecting a stock feed is scoped on a call.
Can my website show finance examples?
Yes, within FCA rules. If you show a rate or cost of credit, you need a representative example, and your lender or principal firm may need to approve the wording. Check you have the right FCA permission for credit broking.
Can you show my stock automatically?
Usually, through a feed from your listing or dealer management software. It depends on the provider, so we confirm what is possible before quoting.
Should admin fees be in the advertised price?
The CMA's guidance says mandatory charges should be included in the headline price rather than added later. Optional extras can be shown separately.
