Restaurants, cafés and pubs

Restaurant website design

Most people decide where to eat on their phone, often while already out. They want the menu, the hours, the location and a way to book, in that order, without pinching and zooming a PDF. That is what we build for restaurants, cafés, pubs and takeaways.

Short answer

A restaurant website needs a menu that reads well on a phone, opening hours that match Google, a booking or ordering link that works first time, and allergen information. We build that for £449 setup and £39 a month (Launch), including hosting and menu updates, or £949 and £59 a month (Grow) for groups and venues with private dining or events.

What diners look for before they book

  1. The menu, with prices. Typed onto the page, not a scanned PDF. It loads faster, reads better on a phone and Google can read it.
  2. Opening hours. The same hours as your Google Business Profile, including bank holidays and seasonal changes. Wrong hours lose covers.
  3. Where you are. Address, a map, parking or the nearest station.
  4. A way to book or order. Your booking system, a phone number that dials on tap, or a link to your ordering platform.
  5. Proof it is good. Real photos of real dishes and the room, and recent reviews.

Allergen information online

The Food Standards Agency's guidance says that food businesses selling non-prepacked food at a distance, online or by phone, should make written allergen information available before the food is ordered and when it is delivered. If you take orders through your own site, that information belongs on the menu page. If you sell through a third-party platform, customers should be told clearly where to find it before they order.

We set your menu up so allergen information sits with each dish and is easy to keep current, because a menu change that forgets the allergens is a real risk.

What we build for restaurants

  • A menu page you can have updated within our edit times, with allergens alongside each dish.
  • Your booking system or ordering link built in, prominent on every page on mobile.
  • Google Business Profile set up and verified, with hours, menu link and photos matching the site.
  • Pages for private dining, events, gift vouchers or a second site when you need them (Grow and above).
  • Fast hosting, so the site loads on a weak signal outside your door.

Example: an independent café with a lunch menu

£449 setup, then £39 a month (Launch)
  • Five pages: home, menu with allergens, about, find us, contact or book
  • Booking or ordering link on every page
  • Google Business Profile set up with matching hours
  • Menu and price updates included, up to 4 requests a month

Already on a builder or a platform page?

Plenty of restaurants run on a Squarespace or Wix site, or only on a booking platform's listing page. That works until the menu is out of date, the hours disagree with Google, or someone searches for you by dish or area and you do not appear. If you would rather keep your own builder site, our guides to Squarespace and Wix pricing show what you should be paying.

Questions people ask

How much does a restaurant website cost?

Ours starts at £449 setup and £39 a month, including hosting and menu updates. Published UK prices for a designer-built five-page site range from about £500 to about £5,000, plus hosting. See what a website costs.

Should my menu be a PDF?

Better not. A menu typed onto the page loads faster on a phone, is easier to read and update, and can be read by Google. A PDF can sit alongside it for printing.

Can you connect my booking system?

Yes. We link or embed the booking or ordering system you already use, and make it easy to find on every page.

Do I need allergen information on my website?

If you take orders online or by phone, the Food Standards Agency's guidance says written allergen information should be available before the order and on delivery. Putting it on your menu page is the simplest way to do that if you sell through your own site.
